On 7th November, KNUTS.in facilitated an evening of reflection and resilience for a leading global investment management firm through an inspiring session with Voice of Value Laxmi Narayan Tripathi.
From being one of India’s most prominent transgender activists to representing the country at the United Nations, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi has spent her life breaking barriers and redefining what it means to live with dignity and pride.
A trained Bharatanatyam dancer, accomplished author, and internationally recognized advocate, Laxmi has been a tireless voice for the LGBTQIA+ and hijra communities. She became the first transgender person to represent Asia Pacific at the UN in 2008, where she spoke about the challenges and rights of sexual minorities — a historic moment that marked global recognition for India’s trans community.
Laxmi is also the founder of Astitva Trust, an organization that works for the empowerment of sexual minorities and gender-diverse individuals. She has authored two books — Me Hijra, Me Laxmi and Red Lipstick: The Men in My Life — both chronicling her deeply personal and courageous journey.
Through her art, activism, and unyielding spirit, Laxmi continues to challenge stereotypes, inspire inclusion, and pave the way for generations to live unapologetically and authentically.
