On 13th December, KNUTS.in facilitated a special milestone event for an engineering-led organisation, marking seven years of its journey and the unveiling of a new chapter shaped by ambition, purpose, and long-term thinking, with the incredible VoV Shalini Saraswathi(She/Her).
VoV Shalini is a national-level para-athlete, blade runner, marathoner, public speaker, and Chief of Strategy at Rise Bionics. Shalini’s story is one of extraordinary resilience. In 2012, a rare and life-threatening infection altered the course of her life, leading to the loss of her pregnancy, multiple organ failure, and eventually the amputation of all four limbs. What followed was a profound journey of rebuilding :physically, mentally, and emotionally.
Through grit and relentless determination, Shalini found her way to athletics, where she went on to become a National Gold and Silver medalist at the National Para Games, represent India at the Asian Games, and set an Asian record as the fastest woman on blades in her category. Alongside her sporting career, she continues to contribute meaningfully in the corporate world and actively advocates for the inclusion of Persons with Disability across professional and social spaces.
At the event, Shalini shared her deeply personal journey — speaking about loss, recovery, discipline, and the mindset required to keep moving forward when the path is uncertain. Her address resonated strongly with the organisation’s own evolution, reinforcing themes of perseverance, innovation, and the courage to think beyond boundaries while staying anchored to purpose and collective progress.
