An introverted small towner Indian who somehow landed up in this tiny little country called Denmark. In pursuit of a balance between her innate Indianness and the Scandinavian way of living, she found herself belonging to two distinct worlds, one where she was born and one that has started to feel like home. Pursuing a career in academia came naturally to her because early on in her life she had realised she was not cut out for the fast-paced world. However, she loves an intellectual challenge and this is a field that gives her the liberty to play around with her own ideas and find a community that exists to help her grow. She values time spent with family over things she doesn't really need. She loves getting to know people and their unique stories but she feels drained in social settings when conversations feel forced. As an introvert, she used self-deprecating humour as a weapon to overcome her awkwardness, a trait she is not proud of but one that helps her get on with life!

She cares a lot about college-going students especially India because a good experience can really help them discover their best selves whereas a bad experience is likely to break their spirits compelling them to make life choices that are at odds with their own personality. Professionally, she has evolved from a rather lost, mediocre person to being able to carve her own path towards a fulfilling life.

She works as a researcher studying corporate action for social and environmental sustainability uncovering how community impact can be sustained for the long term. She is especially passionate about water and water associated challenges. She has been teaching sustainability focused courses for the past year and has an award winning co-authored teaching case published in Ivey Publishing.

She is passionate about change in education, intercultural communities, and the push for sustainability

Why Ahaana?

Ahaana uses humour to navigate uncomfortable situations. While introverted, she doesn't take pride in hating people; it's the intrusiveness and insensitivity of people that ticks her.

She is generally very candid and doesn't follow social cues very well so sometimes it may be perceived as rude or inappropriate. She learns at her own pace, believes in slow and steady growth and is not impressed by the obsession with material wealth. She is not defined by her political ideology, she doesn't believe in being this or that she loves being herself.
